Just wanted to thank everyone again who has supported The Power of Thinking Differently. We’ve once again broken into Amazon’s top #100 books on creativity.

Anytime I have the opportunity to show gratitude to everyone who has been a supporter of this material, I’ll do it. Also, with so many books written on the subject, being in the top 100 is a landmark worth recognizing.

Also, if you haven’t seen it yet, I’ve started posting free articles and podcasts online at PicklesAndDoughnuts.com. I’ll have some great interviews with people who have taken creative approaches in life. I think it’s a great way to honor the unconventional, creative paths others have taken. Plus, I love learning more about creativity through the experience of others. I hope you enjoy it as well.

thanks,

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sunnyvale, CA – Nov 16, 2009 – Interested in making a creative change, finding a fresh perspective, or enhancing your creative expression? Creative thinking author Javy W. Galindo will be discussing these topics and more on his “Thinking Differently Book Tour” beginning November 16th, 2009.

During live events around the greater San Francisco area–as well as through online appearances–Galindo will be sharing insights from his latest book “The Power of Thinking Differently: An imaginative guide to creativity, change, and the discovery of new ideas.”

“This tour is going to be a lot of fun. I love encouraging others to access their inherent creativity to think beyond habit and conventional wisdom,” said the Sunnyvale based author.

Galindo’s book on the creative process has already been garnering rave reviews from experts, book reviewers, and book lovers alike.

According to the Midwest Book Review, the book “encourages readers to overcome the barriers to creative thinking and gain a better sense of humor…‘The Power of Thinking Differently’ is a solid and highly recommended read for those who want to best understand how to put their mind to work.”

The book is “designed to help readers get a new perspective on just about anything,” notes Darragh Doiron of The Port Arthur News. “Readers should be warned to be ready for change.”

“Galindo clearly explains the roots of creativity in the brain and how to overcome one’s own blockages and obstacles in order to…reach a higher state of personal satisfaction,” writes reviewer Susan Reimers of BestSellersWorld.com. “While this book should appeal to those in business, government and science, it can equally benefit all persons who go about their lives looking to make their personal islands a bit more interesting and productive.”

Creative Ideas Accessible to All By Harnessing The Power of Thinking Differently
Silicon Valley Author Provides Roadmap for Innovation and Creativity

Released: Sep 25, 2009

Cultural conflict is on the rise. Lives are changing in a flash as a result of job layoffs. Ingrained behaviors have stretched our natural resources to the limits. The Clinton Global Initiative is currently in session to find innovative approaches to global dilemmas, but how does innovation work? How can we find creative solutions for our common, everyday problems?

“Creativity isn’t reserved for the elite, the painter, inventor, or entrepreneur. It is a skill that we are all born with and can harness to enhance all aspects of our lives,” says creativity expert Javy W. Galindo, author of The Power of Thinking Differently: an imaginative guide to creativity, change, and the discovery of new ideas. “Regrettably, far too many of us react to our circumstances with habitual responses that leave us feeling stuck, frustrated, and desperate for deeper meaning.”

Galindo claims that the key to creativity is overcoming our neurologically wired thinking habits in order to explore creative possibilities. In his book, he takes a unique approach to understanding the innovative mind by exploring the latest research in cognitive science and psychology while also reflecting on the creativity of famous artists, scientists, and business people.

Galindo lightheartedly guides the reader through the universal stages of the creative process and describes the nature of creative insight, ways to transcend creative blocks, the keys to cultivating creativity in groups, and how to break free of groupthink by using both sides of the brain. As a result, readers discover how important relaxation, collaboration, diversity, a sense of humor, and a sense of play are to finding new ideas.

“Some of the character traits needed to be creative go against our cultural norms. It’s not easy to relax, laugh, and play in our serious, goal oriented society. However, if we want to be innovative these things need to be bigger parts of our lives.”

According to Galindo, everyone has the capacity for attaining innovative, creative insights.

“Science shows that not only are all our brains built for thinking creatively, but that creativity is the brain’s most recent evolutionary development. So, why not take advantage of it to find new perspectives, alternative paths, and more creative choices?”

Hey everyone,
If you haven’t noticed, there have been some very cool changes to the website. The main page has been updated and the media kit has been revamped. I still have some lecture videos I need to post, I’m working on a forum/message board, and I’m toying with putting up a page of “inspirational art.” But, I’d still really like to hear from you what other stuff I can put here that you’d be interested in. So don’t be shy.

I’d also like to thank everyone who has been helping pass the word about “The Power of Thinking Differently,” especially my marketing adviser (I should ask if she wants to be known) who has been running some google ads for us. The book again has broken into the top #100K in overall sales on Amazon, currently around #40,000 as I’m writing this, and is back into the top #100 in Creativity! So, thanks again for supporting the cause.
